I love cats and have 2 black and white ones of my own, but find it difficult to paint them. This guy however happened quite quickly and I just love the expression on his face. You just know from the look the chances of being completely ignored if you called him are pretty good. I hope to try to paint a few more cats now as he was fun to do. Maybe I will even tackle my 2 cats Jack and Joe.
Grandmother and Child (Zimbabwe)
This painting was a challenge to do - usually children are difficult but I found it challenging to do the Grandmothers face on this one -- I repainted it several times and think I finally caught the expression that I wanted. This likely will be the last in the African paintings for a time while I work on some Still Lifes's and collages again.
Hi all - The best to everyone in this New Year of 2013
In late December I developed a new website. You can find it at www.LindaBell.ca. Please take a look and let me know what you think. There is a Guestbook page it you would like to leave a comment or send me a note if you have any questions.
I do not plan to send out many e-mails, but if you would prefer not to get any notices please just send a note to info@LindaBell.ca and ask to be removed from the mailing list.
I also wanted to let you know that I will be having another show at the end of April in South Delta -- I will send out more information later this month so stay tuned!
I hope that you enjoy my new website
The first painting below is one of my Wonky Pots series that was one of the first ones done. I was in love with pattern and that is evident in this work. When I took a look at it recently it seemed overly "busy" to me and a bit cold. So I subdued the pattern and worked on warming it up a bit.
Let me know what you think.
I was happy with parts of this painting but did not like other parts but felt it was worth saving so I tried changing things.
After leaving it alone for a week I made a number of other changes and I am finally happy with this one - I think. I leave most of my paintings up for a while and periodically I look at them with "fresh" eyes before I conclude that they are done. Sometimes I need the advice of trusted friends to give me some feedback.
Starting the journey
I am very close to completing my new website. Today is my first blog on this site. I have contributed to other blogs connected to the CFAI website but never done one on my own - so here goes. For this blog I thought I would post one of my latest paintings and then in the future perhaps show the evolution of one of my paintings, that is of course if I can stop and remember to take photo's along the way.
