Here is a publicity photo for the Bold Abstract Show done by the North Shore News of me faking painting and with what looks to me like a fake smile - oh well.

Please see the information in the attached poster below. You can check out the paintings I have included in the show - just click on Sneak Peek under galleries on my website. There is also a brief description on my perspective regarding what is meant by the title abstract art.

Hi everyone - I just had three paintings accepted into the SDAG Oil and Water Juried Show. The Show will run from June 2 to June 26th. The Gallery will be open from 11am to 4 pm Tuesday to Sunday and will stay open till 8pm on Thursday evenings during this time. This is an open show which means artists from all over BC have the opportunity to enter and be accepted into the Show.

The Gallery is located at 1710 56th Street in Tsawassen

The Reception/Awards event is on Thursday June 2nd staring at 6:30pm. Any of you that are interested and in the area are invited to attend. Hope to see some of you there. I have added the 3 paintings below; Floral Display, Shape Up and A Cat of a Different Strip.

I recently gave a 3 day workshop in Calgary with 20 wonderful women. It was a terrific group to work with, lots of fun and creativity in the room and I certainly learned a lot as well. I told the group at the beginning that I would try to role model how to make mistakes and I certainly did that. One of the problems many of us had was painting over some of the papers we made in order to pull the final painting together and I was no exception to that. So I brought home a painting that I had started that was not "working"and tried to improve it. The Before and After are below.

I also demonstrated a torn paper collage on Sunday and did not have time enough to finish it during the workshop - but the "almost" completed Cheetah is below.

I am hoping that I will be able to share paintings of these workshop participants in a future blog post.

Last weekend I took a workshop with Lalita Hamill on Composition and Design. It was great Lalita was very knowledgeable and it was a great refresher for me. She suggested that I look at my recent paintings in black and white and even though I feel fairly comfortable with value - it was a great suggestion as I could more clearly see where I needed to make some adjustments. So looking at the 2 paintings below that way I made some alterations and have reposted the paintings.
