Upcoming Demonstration Hi several of you asked me to notify you of the Demo I will be doing at Opus Art Supplies in North Vancouver. I will be there on October 24th from 10:00 to 12:00 doing an introduction to collage. For more information go to to Opusartsupplies.com/how/demos and then click on North Vancouver. Looking forward to seeing some of you there. Please also forward this e-mail to others you think might be interested...... thanks. Publications Incite 3 The Best of Mixed Media has now been published and can be ordered from both Amazon and Chapters. See the book cover and my painting "Cat Idioms" below.
The other 2 publications are the catalogues from FCA events including the POTE Show (Painting on the Edge) see below and the Catalogue for "Paintings by Number" which will be available very soon.
Recent Paintings I have also included a couple of my most recent paintings below. Both are 30" x 40" and are bold and bright -- loving the orange/red colors right now. The top one is called "She Felt All Bottled Up" and the one below is called "At the Picnic".

I have continued to play with different colors this time on the warmer side. I really enjoyed creating the painting below called She Felt All Bottled Up. It was done by scraping paint across the entire canvas and then drawing in the large shapes within a grid composition.

I took a workshop in mid August on the Sunshine Coast with Alison Watt and 14 other lovely women. As with any workshop you take some things away that work for you and some you need to experiment with. One of the challenges was trying out a 3 colour painting (other than black and white) using Phthalo Green, Phathalo Blue and yellow ochre. The only colour of the 3 I use is the Blue. I have found the Green very harsh and never used it. What I discovered is that it mixes very well and is a great glaze. I also re discovered how important greys are in a painting which I hope I will continue to remember. Anyway the attached 2 paintings were done with these thoughts/colours in mind. I did cheat a bit and used a more yellow green when finishing the abstract and copper in the Still Life painting. Now I am going to dive into the other side of the colour wheel and go for the reds, oranges and purple in my next painting.

I took a bit of a hiatus from painting for a short while but am back painting again and trying out some new things. I finished 3 last month just before the deadline for entering the Oil and Water Show juried show at the SDAG. I found out last week that I had all 3 paintings accepted - hurrah. I have posted the 3 below.
The painting below I finished early today -- It is called Moonlight Sonata (posted on 10 May 2015)
Thanks to all of you that attended the demonstration at OPUS in Langley yesterday -- you were a fun group of participants. As per your request I finished a couple of the paintings I did during the demo and have posted them below. The second pear has changed quite a bit from the start as the background is now different colours and most of the original papers have been obliterated but I tried to keep the grid pattern. The first pear was painted on with more pattern and some purple was put into the background....... So here the final A Pair of Pears..... Let me know what you think -- and happy painting! Thank you to all the people that attended our show. The gallery I think looked great -- I took some photo's and will upload and post a few sometime this week. A show like this is however demands a lot of time and energy and I am looking forward to getting back to creating...... thanks again to those who found time to attend the reception and the concert - it was great. Also a big thank you to my friend Cheryl who helped me transport and hang my paintings. (posted on 25 Apr 2015)
