Well I got my studio cleaned out and all my collage papers sorted and ended up throwing out a large bag of old dried up paints and other stuff I had collected. Got back to painting and produced 2 new ones (see below) as well as a small painting as a gift.

Silenced

I currently have a painting in the FCA Gallery for the Artists Choice Show

In addition I took a couple of other paintings into the Federation Gallery today -- One for their Fund raising show 10 x 10 and the other for the Small show. (see below)

The Creative Collage Show in Richmond comes down tomorrow and another 4 paintings will be going into an upcoming SDAG show. If this keeps up I am going to have to devise system for keeping track of my artwork.

I have experimented with different layouts and backgrounds for my website and decided to return to a similar format and the colors I used before. I have been cleaning out my studio this last week but hope to get back to painting in the next week.

Hi -- I have been playing with a new look for my website by changing colors and adding some background. I likely will experiment with a few different backgrounds --- lf you read this blog - let me know what you think about the new look. I am trying out the water drop look first --- seems appropriate as I live on the "wet coast".

I am also experimenting with a new collage technique by fusing papers together with a tack iron. Haven't quite got the hang of it yet, but no burns either! I am printing new papers as well with my new gelli plate - which is a lot of fun. Next blog I will take a few photo's of some of my new paper creations.

A while back I posted the image of a painting that I had donated to the Stephen Lewis Foundation through a fund raiser sponsored by the Go Go's organization in New Westminister. The art exhibit is currently touring in Western Canada and will return to BC in the spring 2014 in which time a final auction will occur of the art work. I have attached to this post the Companion Book and the link to the Go Go's site which will provide more information. This is a fabulous organization that is doing powerful work in Africa - please take a look at their site and at the book below.

Check out my 2 new paintings in my gallery. These paintings just seem to paint themselves and I hope others like them as much as I do. Jazzy Jars is 36" x 36" and Tea Party Fiesta is 40" x 30". They are bright and lively.

Here is the website: www.rocanini.com

The show will start on Tues and will run till November 4th. Hope you can drop in.

These are just some of the paintings that will be on display.

I have just finished 3 new paintings -- all using collage but all different techniques. See below.

American Graffiti - only in the background I have used collage on the graffiti wall. The figure is straight acrylic.

Looking Out Looking In -- this painting uses my painted and stamped tissue paper which I have collaged into various parts of the painting.

Hot Dog-- the whole dog is composed of torn and cut papers from various magazines

I just did a workshop with Mike Svob and as usual I created a bunch of terrible paintings during the week. He however is a good teacher and I have been practicing some of the technigues he demonstrated, including glazing. I also pushed myself to do a landscape as they are not in my comfort zone. The two paintings below are ones I have created in the last week. (PS - he is known for his values and saturated color)
