I hope you are able to come to the show. We will be there from 11 am to 4 pm for all 11 days. Please see the map below and the websites of my fellow artists; Nancy Dean, Birgit Coath and Gabrielle Greig. Feel free to send this invitation on to others you think might be interested.
I have created a new temporary gallery (4 Women 4 Stories) with the paintings I will have in the show on my website. So check it out at www.lindabell.ca. Remember the reception is Sunday afternoon April 21st from 1:30 to 4 pm. Come alone or bring your friends and enjoy a glass of wine, some cheese and goodies, meet up with other friends ----- and of course enjoy the art. I am looking forward to seeing you there.

I am in the final stages of getting my paintings ready for our April show which includes the framing and some final touch ups to some of the paintings. When I went to do some minor changes to "Stalking the Wild Ostrich I realized I was not happy with the saturated orange sunset sky. The rules for clothing on safari are no bright clothes and no black or dark blue. So there is a lot of beige, earth tones and pastels which is what the 3 women in the photograph are wearing. It was also early dusk so the actual sky was not that intense orange --- so I harmonized the painting with a more pastel feel and toned down the sky. See what you think. Touched up painting

Just a small painting done again from a photograph that I took in that small village in Zimbabwe. I liked the play of sun and shade in this one. It is called "In the Shade" and is 10" x 10"

I am almost done the still life paintings i want to get done for my April show. I have now resorted to using my groceries for painting inspiration. I completed the following 2 paintings this week - the first one is called "Lean on Me" and the second one is "Onion Row". This is the first time I have used the long horizontal format which I think worked really well for these paintings.

I am back to doing a few still life paintings again in preparation for our Show in April. See the stages this painting took -- I think I will call it " Bearly Spring".

Some information about my second place win on the Winter cfai juried show is posted on their blog. Check it out at cfaidailynews.blogspot.com (posted on 10 Feb 2013)
I am not sure what I was thinking when I decided to do this -- the 3 parts add up to a width of 6 feet x 30". Clearly it does not fit on my easel and painting on the floor is very tricky for a variety of reasons - as they need to be connected. I took a photo of where I am at and propped the 3 canvases against the wall to shoot it. The lightening is not great - but this is where I am at so far. I am taking a bit of a rest from it for a while but I think I am close to being finished.
